Anthony got a reaction from CBers in Abandonware?
Rest assured... it is not abandonware :-)
As revengineer has pointed out, dev has slowed, but it certainly has not stopped. In fact, CX v2 is ready, and DB v2.5 is in the works ;-)

Anthony got a reaction from PharmellaSw in The upgrade process
Currently when performing an upgrade, the installation process installs the new version straight over the top of the existing installation. Most of the time this works fine, however there are instances when this process does not work as expected, and certain components do not get upgraded correctly, resulting in the pool not mounting upon reboot.

We are looking at the installer performing an automatic uninstall first, reboot, then a new install followed by yet another reboot. On the surface multiple reboot is not desirable, however given that we need to reboot at least once regardless, and a second reboot in the same time frame does seem trivial, and would solve many upgrade issues. I'm keen to get the thoughts of users...

Oh I should point out the the uninstallation process will not effect the existing pool's configuration.

Anthony got a reaction from CBers in Drive Bender v2.4.0.0 released
    Release v2.4.0.0 release (26/01/2016)
File duplication issue that can cause a mismatched time stamp between the primary and duplicate files when there is a daylight saving's time shift. This can cause some files to be unnecessary re-duplicated.
The underlying volume GUID for a mount point will be the same each time the mount point re-mounts.
Improved start up when one/all drives detached from the pool.
Improved polling load (aka less CPU usage) when waiting on drives to reconnect to the pool.
[n] Pools can now be switched "offline", this causes all mount points to be dismounted until the user switched back to "online" mode. Option available along the top banner within the Drive Bender Manager.
The pool file system health check now runs every 7 days and no sooner, even after a restart.
The location of temp and log files has changed, there are now located in "\ProgramData\Division-M\Drive Bender".
Folders pending delete may not get deleted, this can result in "orphaned duplicate" messages being generated.
If the pool is in fault tolerant mode, the Drive Bender Manager can cause an excessive load on the pool.
When using a landing zone, and a file is sent to the recycle bin before it has been moved from the landing zone, the file remains in the recycle bin on the landing zone drive until emptied. As part of the clearing process, the recycle bin is now checked and any files found are now moved from the landing zone drive.
Improved target drive selection under "Balanced" mode.
The minimum free space setting from drives can fail in some conditions.
When upgrading, the installer will now uninstall the existing driver version first before installing the newer version (this happens automatically).

Anthony got a reaction from areasunshine in Duplication bug patch
There is a duplication bug in the current release (aka v2.3.9.0) that can cause the a mismatch time stamp between the primary and duplicate files when there is a daylight saving's time shift. This can cause some files to be unnecessary re-duplicated. If you are seeing re-duplication for no obvious reason, I recommend installing the attached patch.

Important, you must be on the latest release v2.3.9.0 before applying this patch.

To install :-  1) Open task manager and kill task "DriveBenderService.exe" (make sure the pool is not busy copying files etc).  2) Unzip the attached files to the Drive Bender folder (typically "C:\Program Files\Division-M\Drive Bender"), overwriting the existing file.  3) Reboot.   As a side note, we are seeing some users experience performance issues when they have enabled CRC validation (this is made worse by the bug mentioned above). While we have not been able to replicate this, we are recommending users disable this feature as it does not offer any real benefit. Release v1.5.2.0 release (2015-09-15)
Improved cache performance on hosts with slow internet connections.
[n] The ability to map folders (in addition to local drives) to cloud services.
Windows can send file system requests which may not match the file system case of the underlying file system. This can result in remote files not being found due to the incorrect case of the request.
If the underlying cloud provider changes for a given rule (or is no longer available), it could force Cloud Xtender to continually check each file mapped to the previous rule provider.
Added a new wizard style interface to client to assist in setup.
The calculated bytes displayed next to the pie chart was not updating correctly.

Pool scanning tasks (aka health monitor, landing zone clearing and balancing) now cache folders for improved performance.
Balancing and clearing of the landing zone tasks may not complete.
The health monitor scanning frequency has been changed from every 4 days to every 7.
There is now a limit on the number of repeat notification emails that can be sent.
When the pool is starting and system drives are inspected, the default timeout has been increased to prevent spurious warnings.
If the landing zone clearing time is set to one minute, it can prevent the health monitor from starting.

Scheduled tasks can fail to load on start-up.
The core driver is spamming the Windows event log.
If the pool switches to fault tolerant mode, the duplicate file may not be displayed.
On some occasions it is not possible to create a network mount point.
Improved the efficiently of the pool health check.
Fixed a font issue with the duplication manager.
    Windows 10 support.

FYI - This is an interim release on our way to v2.4, we wanted to get out the fixes and updates we had in place so far. If you have reported an issue with v2.3 and it is not fixed in this release, it is most likely being addressed in v2.4.

Thanks for the feedback. We are aware of the file locking issue and is being address in the next update which is scheduled to be release later this week. I'll also look at the caching... the cache block size you mentioned is not right, so we'll take a closer look at what is happening here.

Release v2.3.0.0 release (2015-01-07) S.M.A.R.T now being processed by its own service (the change in the previous release failed for some users). The Windows Server Dashboard could crash if some options were selected. When performing a pool audit, the file size used to calculate pool-usage is now based on the size used on the drive, not the file size itself. This means the non pool value display in the Drive Bender Manager will be more accurate.
