  1. I got a response (YES) ______________________________ Anthony, Aug 20 08:45 (EST): Hi Jon, Drive Bender does support Windows 8, however you need to ensure .NET 2.0 is enabled. To do this go to the start screen and type "control panel" and hit enter, then select "Programs", then "Programs and Features". From here select the "Turn Windows Features on or off" (this is in the left panel). Finally ensure ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)" is checked. Thanks, Anthony
  2. MSDN yes I didn't open a ticket yet since I was in casual mode and wanted to share the question/answer with the forum here. Should I? I guess I could post my response back in this thread too.
  3. That sounds promising nice. I'll wait to hear confirmation that it's working on Win 8 because it' supposed to and not by luck/chance that it just happens to though.
  4. Does DriveBender support Windows 8 RTM? (or will it soon?) I'm ready to upgrade my Home Theater PC to Windows 8 as soon as I know it's ready for prime time. I'd rather use DriveBender than the Win8 Drive Spaces Which is not as flexible from what I read: http://helgeklein.com/blog/2012/03/windows-8-storage-spaces-bugs-and-design-flaws/
  5. I just got this response: "Ok I see the issue. The value you have enter is in hex, when it should be in decimal... the hex / decimal option is available in the dialog used to enter the value. However I took your suggestion and it is now a feature in the latest version." Excellent! I'll test it out soon, can't reboot since I have stuff recording in Media Center. I'll confirm it works when I have an opening to restart my machine. (I'm sure it will work fine though) Excellent. I saw the sale price was ending in a few days, so I just bought a license too now that I'm happy. EDIT: Just updated to the latest version, enabled the new manage autoplay check box in advanced settings, and I'm good to go! No more Autoplay popup after reboot.
  6. I just had a chance to test it again, and the autoplay/scan still happens after windows logs in. Can anyone double check my registry settings to see if I have a typo to disable P:? Here is a screen shot. Popup http://i.imgur.com/ZZN7sl.jpg Registry: http://i.imgur.com/tyje6.jpg
  7. I can confirm rolling back my Win 7 x86 image (via the built in Windows backup, advanced, restore from image) was successful and my db pooled drive remained unaffected. All is well
  8. It worked! I applied the following ,rebooted, and no longer have autoplay popup for P: 1) Start, Run, Regedit 2) Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies Explorer (note you have to CREATE Explorer below Policies, it wasn't there by default) Create a new REG_DWORD named NoDriveAutoRun Change the default hex value to: 32768 (This value is for P: only, I'm not sure what the number is for V: or other letters) Anyone know what V: is for others please post to help out others that might want to know. This should be a feature enhancement in future releases of DriveBender. (like an option to click) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EDIT! Correction, it DIDN'T work, some how I missed the autplay window behind something else, let me try again :-/
  9. He just clarified, I'll give it a shot "Anthony, Jul 30 14:15 (EST): See the following MS info (see secion Using the Registry to Disable AutoRun) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/cc144204(v=vs.85).aspx So in the case of drive P (as per your screen shot), you would set the DWORD value "NoDriveAutoRun" to 32768 Thanks, Anthony"
  10. I got a reply: "Hi Jon, This happens because DB mount the drives after Windows has started (it does not happen on WHS 2011 because this is a server based OS). I have posted a fix on the support site. http://support.drivebender.com/entries/21782076-can-i-disable-the-autoplay-dialog-that-appears-when-windows-starts Let me know if there is anything else. Thanks, Anthony" This fix sounds like it disables autoplay for ALL drives though! I need autoplay to kick in so I can quickly import photos off my SD cards etc. You would think you could disable autoplay for a specific drive only and not all of them. Hmmm. Any other ideas?
  11. I read on other forums of people that used both StableBit Drive Pool and Drive Bender in conjunction with FlexRaid SnapShot mode (Raid) and it working well. I just installed Drive Bender on my Windows 7 Media Center HTPC and FlexRaid in SnapShot only mode. So far so good! (should be the same in snapraid/disparity if it works on top of the existing file system in a similar way as FlexRaid) No need to use file duplication, so you get more storage then
  12. I need to roll back my Windows 7 computer to yesterdays full image backup. After I restore, will DriveBender be ok? I know the data will be fine sine the restore has nothing to do with the external drives DB uses. I'm just curious if any weird data base DB has will be out of sync and cause errors. I do NOT use file duplication by the way. (It's off)
  13. My 4 drives are connected via an external eSata encloser http://www.sansdigital.com/towerraid-plus/tr5mbp.html The controller is the HighPoint RR622 RocketRaid PCIe card. I'd actually like the autoplay to popup for regular USB & Thumbdrives, but not the Drive Pool virtual pool drive of course. Ok I opened a ticket
  14. I just started using Drive Bender on my Win 7 Media Center HTPC in the livingroom. I too get the AutoPlay popup every reboot. Is their a fix in the near future coming? Here's a photo:
  15. I wanted to share an important fix for San Digital multi-bay eSata enclosure users! Both my San Digital TR5M-B and TR5M-PB 5-bay eSata enclosures would randomly DROP out of Windows when I was moving a lot of files around. The only way to get them back was to reboot the server. (power cycling the enclosure didn't fix it) Well it turns out there is a simple fix all along. I wish I would have researched this more 12 months ago! The below fix applies to the 4, 5, 8, etc bay enclosures Here's the enclosure I use the most http://www.sansdigital.com/towerraid-plus/tr5mbp.html The fix: http://www.sansdigital.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=190&func=view&catid=10&id=4250#4296 Problem / question: Currently the disk system is set up as just single pass through disks. Anytime there is extremely heavy I/O all the disks drop out and the controller cannot see them anymore. Restarting the TowerRAID system and unplugging the cables does not help, only a reboot of the server. This is getting frustrating as when all the drives were connected to a 3ware 9550sx-12 they never had an issue. Is there another HBA I can try to solve this issue? I do not want to use raid, just single disk pass through. SOLVED Turn off "Link State Power Management" under PCI Express in the power options menu. (in control panel)
